As you know, The Rules Regulating the Florida Bar call on each of us to provide at least 20 hours of pro bono legal service to the poor or a contribution of at least $350 to a legal aid organization each year. If you have not already provided pro bono service this year, we ask that you consider sending your contribution to TRLS. Your donation helps us provide these services to the indigent, abused, disabled, and elderly members of our society through advocacy, advice, and representation. Property Taxes This can be a confusing topic for many homeowners. Property taxes are due annually, and tax collectors issue tax bills every year in November. The earlier you pay your taxes, the more significant the discount you’ll receive. But who is responsible for paying these taxes? Ultimately, the property owner or any heir of the property owner is responsible for paying the taxes. If your property has a mortgage, your mortgage company may pay the taxes if you have an escrow account with them.
