According to the Tampa Bay Times, Gov. Ron DeSantis extended Florida’s eviction and foreclosure moratorium until Sept. 1, via an executive order signed Wednesday.

The moratorium was set to expire at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday.

The order was publicly announced shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

In addition to extending the deadline, the order included a few policy tweaks, such as explicitly stating that all missed rent and mortgage payments are due when the tenant or borrower “is no longer adversely affected by the COVID-19 emergency,” which it defines as job loss or other income reduction during the pandemic.
