HOUSING / LANDLORD / TENANT

What are some legal issues that renters might have?

If you’re renting a place to live in, you be evicted if you don’t pay your rent, break the rules set by your landlord, or if you don’t move out when your lease ends. You might also have problems with your landlord if they don’t take care of the place you’re renting. Sometimes landlords might turn off your utilities to make you leave. They might also take some money from your security deposit for things that aren’t your fault.

How can Three Rivers Legal Services help with a Landlord/Tenant dispute?

At Three Rivers, we help families find and keep a place to live. We do this by helping tenants who are facing eviction from both private and public landlords. We also give legal advice to tenants who need help getting their landlords to make repairs, or who want to challenge claims made against their security deposits. We can also help stop illegal evictions by landlords. If necessary, we can represent eligible tenants in court when an eviction action has been filed.

Housing experts from Three Rivers are always available to speak to groups interested in learning about their rights as tenants or homeowners.
