Legal Services Corporation (LSC) makes annual grants to non-profit agencies to provide free civil legal assistance to persons at or below 125% of the federal poverty level. Three Rivers Legal Serivces has continuously received grants from LSC since 1978. Under this grant, TRLS provides assistance in the 17 counties it serves in North Florida.
The Florida Bar Foundation was founded in the early 1980s to provide support to providers of civil legal assitance in the state of Florida. The Florida Bar Foundation is supported by Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts. Under this grant, TRLS provides assistance in the 17 counties it serves in North and North Central Florida.
Victims of Crime Act: This project is supported by Award No, 7161 awarded by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, sponsored by Three Rivers Legal Servces and the State of Florida.
Three Rivers Legal Services is a recipient of the United Way of North Central Florida and an affiliate of United Way of Suwannee Valley. TRLS also receives United Way assistance through the University of Florida Community Campaign in Alachua County.
Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging contracts with Three Rivers Legal Services to provide legal assistance to citizens 60 years of age and older in Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Suwannee and Union Counties.
AmeriCorps is a program utilizing lawyers to recruit, train, and supervise law student volunteers to provide limited and brief legal assistance to low income persons in the 17 county service area. Law students wishing to volunteer should email pblc@trls.org.
Close the Gap is an education and outreach program on HIV/AIDS directed to the Duval neighborhood in east Gainesville, Florida. For more information you can email closethegap@trls.org.
Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence provides funding for representing victims of domestic violence in rural counties served by one of several domestic violence shelters – Another Way, Peaceful Paths, and Hubbard House.
Alachua County Board of County Commission provides funds through a local ordinance and supports 3 (Removing Barriers to Employment, Self-Help Housing Clinic, & Homeless Income Benefits) projects under its Community Agency Partnership Program.
With support from Santa Fe Community College, Three Rivers Legal Services provides services to full time students at SFCC in Gainesville, Florida.
Funding from the State of Florida supports assistance in special legal issues through the Florida Access to Civil Legal Assistance contract.
Low Income Tax Payer Clinic in the TRLS Jacksonville Office. Persons with income below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level and tax controversies less than $50,000 may be eligible for assistance.
